Description

When the wind is blowing, not breezy, but making it hard to stand up and the wind chill is below zero and you’re having a hard time breathing, it’s hard to imagine going diving!

If you are choosing or being chosen to go under the water at this moment in time, everything you can do that can add ANY warmth to your dive matters. When that warmth is situated in the head, where such a huge percentage of heat loss occurs, it’s even more important! Here is why the NANOOK 6 and the NANOOK 9 should have your attention.

The NANOOK Hoods are made with:

1. PRE-Stretched neoprene, this is a first, this pre-stretching gives your hood that lived in feeling. It can naturally form to you, not fight you! The difference is immediate and a revelation!

2. Abrasion-resistant DINA-HIDE™ that covers a 6 mm or 8 mm high quality compressed neoprene with a .5 mm layer of heat reflecting Titanium Foil™ on the inside.

3. Here are some of the details of how we make the NOOTKA Cold Water Drysuit Hoods.

A. The seams are glued together with 6 separate layers of Premium SEASOFT Drysuit Glue.Bruce Justinen, President, SEASOFT SCUBA GEAR .se aero holes allow air to leave your hood but do not allow it to leak in. The size of these aero holes have been carefully researched to work as designed.

B. When the glues have dried and cured, the seams on the inside and outside are blindstitched with # 92 100% spun and coated nylon thread. This is the heaviest thread that can still be used on most industrial sewing machines.

C. The TWO aero holes in the peak of the drysuit have already been burned through the 6 mm or 8 mm neoprene to the correct diameter to allow trapped air inside the hood to escape but small enough to prevent cold water from enteringglued with 3 layers of glue and then another 3 layers of glue are laid down on top of those and then a 1” wide straight cut 1.5 mm 3 ply strip of nylon/neoprene/nylon is glued to those 3 layers for a fortress like barrier. But, there’s more! We turn the hood inside out and we now blind stitch and bar tack the hood to anchor all of the seams for a final throwdown to the cold.

4. Two small aero holes are burned into the peak of your hood and then covered with a heat applied gusset. These aero holes allow air to leave your hood but do not allow it to leak in. The size of these aero holes have been carefully researched to work as designed.

“If you are going to dive cold, you might as well dive warm!”

The NANOOK 6 and NANOOK 9 advanced Cold Water Drysuit Hoods are the world’s best hoods for extreme diving in the harshest and coldest conditions.

IMPORTANT: SPECIALIZED TRAINING and constant training is required for extreme diving. You MUST have a support team that can monitor you at all times. Your support team must have the authority to “call the dive” and know there will not be any repercussions. Dying or serious injury is NEVER a good outcome of training or a mission. BE SAFE.
